Navigate through Local Management by selecting items from themenu screens.The 2E43-51 supports three modes of switch operation. The switchingmodes are as follows:• 802.1D Switching (traditional switching)• 802.1Q Switching (port based VLAN switching)• SecureFast VLAN (Cabletron Systems SecureFast switching)Depending on the Operational Mode set for the device, the hierarchy ofthe Local Management screens differs as shown in Figure 5-4, Figure 5-5and Figure 5-6. Refer to the appropriate figure that relates to theOperational Mode set for the device to see the applicable LocalManagement screen hierarchy.NOTEThe User’s password is one of the community names specifiedin the SNMP Community Names screen. Access to certainLocal Management capabilities depends on the degree ofaccess accorded that community name. Refer to Section 5.8.If an invalid password is entered, the terminal beeps and thecursor returns to the beginning of the password entry field.Entering a valid password causes the associated access levelto display at the bottom of the screen and the Device Menuscreen to appear.If no activity occurs for several minutes, the Local ManagementPassword screen redisplays and the password has to bereentered.
