28INSTALLATION Check the appliance is electrically safe and gas sound when you have finished.Conversion to Another GasIf the appliance is to be converted to another gas do theconversion at this point. See ‘Conversion to LP Gas’.Gas ConnectionThis must be in accordance with the relevant standards. The gas supply needs to terminate with a down-facingthreaded fitting ½” connection. The inlet connector is locatedjust below the hotplate level at the rear of the range.Because the height of the range can be adjusted andeach connection is different, it is difficult to give precisedimensions. Ideally the hose supply connection should bewithin the shaded area ‘A’ (Fig. 9.12).Means of isolation must be provided at the supply point byeither an approved quick-connect device or a Type 1 manualshut-off valve. The hose should be fitted so that both inlet and outletconnections are vertical so that the hose hangs downwards ina ‘U’ shape.A flexible connection is supplied with the range. If it isnecessary to use another hose it must be to AS 1869 class Band be suitable for your gas type.If in doubt contact your supplier. Screw connect the threadedend of the hose into the gas inlet. After completing the gas connection, check the range is gassound with a pressure test. When checking for gas leakes donot use washing up liquid – this can corrode. Use a productspecifically manufactured for leak detection.Natural GasThe gas pressure regulator is preset to give a nominalpressure of 1 kPa on Natural Gas. Connect to the Rp ½ inlet onthe underside of the pressure regulator.PropaneThis range is supplied ready for use on natural gas. Aconversion kit for Propane as is supplied with the range – seethe ‘Conversion to Propane Gas’ section.Pressure TestingThe pressure test point is accessible on the inlet pipe at therear. Remove the test nipple screw and fit a pressure gauge tothe test point. Turn on and light two of the hotplate burners. For Natural Gas ranges the operating pressure should be1 kPa.For Propane X ranges the operating pressure should be2.54 kPa.675A315Gas inlet470350All dimensions in millimetresFig. 9.12
