5-34 F60 Feeder Protection System GE Multilin5.2 PRODUCT SETUP 5 SETTINGS5ROUTING BEHAVIOR COMPARED TO PREVIOUS RELEASESPrior to release 7.10, the UR did not have an explicit manner of configuring routes. The only available route was the defaultroute configured as part of the network settings (port gateway IP address). This limited the ability to route to specific desti-nations, particularly if these destinations were reachable through a different interface than the one on which the defaultgateway was.Starting with UR 7.10, up to six static network routes can be configured in addition to a default route. The default route con-figuration was also moved from the network settings into the routing section. The figure shows an example of topology that benefits from the addition of static routes.Figure 5–8: USING STATIC ROUTESIn the figure, the UR connects through the following two Ethernet ports:• Port 1 (IP address 10.1.1.2) connects the UR to LAN 10.1.1.0/24 and to the Internet through Router1. Router 1 has aninterface on 10.1.1.0/24 and the IP address of this interface is 10.1.1.1.• Port 2 (IP address 10.1.2.2) connects the UR to LAN 10.1.2.0/24 and to the EnerVista software through Router 2.Router 2 has an interface on 10.1.2.0/24 and the IP address of this interface is 10.1.2.1.The configuration before release 7.10 was as follows:• PRT1 IP ADDRESS = 10.1.1.2PRT1 SUBNET IP MASK = 255.255.255.0PRT1 GWY IP ADDRESS = 10.1.1.1PRT2 IP ADDRESS = 10.1.2.2PRT2 SUBNET IP MASK = 255.255.255.0The behavior before release 7.10 was as follows. When sending packets to EnerVista, the UR noticed that the destinationwas not on a connected network and it tried to find a route to destination. Since the default route was the only route it knew,it used it. Yet EnerVista was on a private network, which was not reachable through Router 1. Hence a destination unreach-able message was received from the router. The configuration starting release 7.10 is as follows:• PRT1 IP ADDRESS = 10.1.1.2PRT1 SUBNET IP MASK = 255.255.255.0PRT2 IP ADDRESS = 10.1.2.2PRT2 SUBNET IP MASK = 255.255.255.0IPV4 DEFAULT ROUTE: GATEWAY ADDRESS = 10.1.1.1STATIC NETWORK ROUTE 1: RT1 DESTINATION = 10.1.3.0/24; RT1 NET MASK = 255.255.255.0; and RT1 GATE-WAY = 10.1.2.1EnerVista SoftwareML3000Public networkURP1IP1/MAC1P2IP2/MAC2ML300010.1.1.0/24 10.1.2.0/24P3IP3/MAC3Router2Router110.1.3.0/24.1.1.2 .2859714A1.vsd
