It can be repaired link by linkwithout removing the cables and hoses that runthrough it. Removing the entire boom cable trackis only necessary when performing major repairsthat involve removing the boom.How to Repair the PlasticCable TrackComponent damage hazard.The boom cable track can bedamaged if it is twisted.a link separation pointb lower clip1 Use a screwdriver to pry out and down on thelower clip.2 Repeat step 1 for each link.3 To remove a single link, open the lower clipand then use a screwdriver to pry the linkto the side.Boom Componentsab4-2BoomHow to Shim the BoomMeasure each wear pad. Replacethe pad if it is less than 7 /16 inch(11 mm) thick. If the pad is morethan 7/ 16 inch (11 mm) thick,perform the following procedure.1 Extend the boom until the wear pads areaccessible.2 Loosen the wear pad mounting fasteners.3 Install the new shims under the wear pad toobtain zero clearance and zero drag.4 Tighten the mounting fasteners.5 Extend and retract the boom through an entirecycle. Check for tight spots that could causescraping or binding.Always maintain squarenessbetween the outer and inner boomtubes.How to Removethe BoomThis procedure requires specificrepair skills, lifting equipment anda suitable workshop. Attemptingthis procedure without these skillsand tools may cause death orserious injury and significantcomponent damage.
