Read the safety information that begins on page vii and the “Installationguidelines” on page 127.2. Make sure that the server cover is in place and fully closed.Attention: To maintain proper system cooling, do not operate the server formore than 10 minutes without either a drive or filler panel installed in each bay.3. Install the hard disk drive in the hot-swap bay:a. Make sure that the tray handle is open (that is, perpendicular to the front ofthe drive).b. Remove the filler panel from the bay.c. Align the drive assembly with the guide rails in the bay.d. Gently push the drive assembly into the bay until the drive stops.e. Push the tray handle to the closed (locked) position.f. Check the hard disk drive status LED to make sure that the hard disk drive isoperating correctly. If the amber hard disk drive status LED for a drive is litcontinuously, that drive is faulty and must be replaced. If the green hard diskdrive activity LED is flashing, the drive is being accessed.Note: If the server is configured for RAID operation using a ServeRAIDadapter, you might have to reconfigure your disk arrays after you install harddisk drives. See the ServeRAID adapter documentation for additionalinformation about RAID operation and complete instructions for using theServeRAID adapter.Removing an optional DVD driveTo remove a DVD drive, complete the following steps:1.
