If you are instructed to return the ServeRAID adapter, follow all packaginginstructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied toyou.Installing an optional IBM ServeRAID-MR10i SAS/SATA ControllerYou can purchase an optional IBM ServeRAID-MR10i SAS/SATA controller. It canbe installed only in the dedicated slot on the riser-card assembly. TheServeRAID-MR10i adapter supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10. Forconfiguration information, see the ServeRAID documentation athttp://www.ibm.com/systems/support/.Important: To ensure that any of your ServeRAID adapters function properly onUEFI-based servers, make sure that the adapter firmware and supporting devicedrivers are updated to at least 11.x.x-XXX.Attention: Some cluster solutions require specific code levels or coordinated codeupdates. If the device is part of a cluster solution, verify that the latest level of codeis supported for the cluster solution before you update the code.To install an IBM ServeRAID-MR10i SAS/SATA adapter, complete the followingsteps:1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”on page 127.2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords.3. Remove the cover (see “Removing the cover” on page 130).4. Remove the riser-card assembly (see “Removing the riser-card assembly” onpage 133).5. Remove the expansion-slot cover on the slot that you intend to use and savefor future use.Attention: PCI expansion-slot covers must be installed on all vacant slots.This maintains the electronic emissions standards of the server and ensuresproper ventilation of server components.6. Touch the static-protective package that contains the new ServeRAID-MR10iSAS/SATA adapter to any unpainted surface on the outside of the server; then,grasp the adapter by the top edge or upper corners of the adapter and removeit from the package.7. Take the signal cable that is attached to the drive backplane and connect it tothe ServeRAID adapter.
