Notes on Using Your Server 1-9Cleaning and Working with Internal DevicesWARNINGDo not disassemble, repair, or alter the server.Never attempt to disassemble, repair, or alter the server on any occasion otherthan described in this manual. Failure to follow this instruction may cause anelectric shock or fire as well as malfunctions of the server.Do not look into the DVD-ROM drive.A laser beam used in the DVD-ROM drive is harmful to the eyes. Do not lookinto or insert a mirror into the drive while the drive is powered. If a laser beamis caught in your eyes, you may lose your eyesight (the laser beam is invisible).Do not remove the lithium and NiMH batteries.Your server contains the lithium and NiMH batteries. Do not remove thebattery. Danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Placing thebattery close to a fire or in the water may cause an explosion.When the server does not operate appropriately due to the dead lithium andNiMH batteries, contact your service representative to replace only with thesame or equivalent type recommended by NEC. Do not disassemble theserver to replace or recharge the battery by yourself.Disconnect all the power plugs before accessing inside the server, orconnecting the peripherals.The server has two power cords.Make sure to power off the server and disconnect the all power plugs from apower outlet before cleaning or installing/removing internal optional devices.Touching any internal device of the server with its power cords connected to apower source may cause an electric shock even of the server is off-powered.Disconnect all the power plugs from the outlet occasionally and clean the plugwith a dry cloth. Heat will be generated if condensation is formed on a dustyplug, which may cause a fire.
