Shooting5Using focus assistPressing the FOCUS ASSIST button magnifiesthe center portion of the image or brings up afrequency distribution graph at the top right of theimage to assist during manual focusing.You can use the FOCUS ASSIST setting onthe SW MODE screen to change the viewfinderand LCD monitor displays that appear when theFOCUS ASSIST button is pressed. (Page 102)FOCUS ASSIST buttonEXPANDED:Doubles the size of the center of the image.GRAPH:Displays a frequency distribution graph at the topright in the viewfinder and LCD monitor.Turn the focus ring on the lens to place the graphfurther to the right.Out of focus The white area movesto the right as the imagecomes into focus.BOTH:Magnifies the center portion of the image anddisplays the frequency distribution graph.The image on the LCD monitor may differ slightlyfrom the image in the viewfinder when theFOCUS ASSIST button is used in EXPANDEDmode.The EXPANDED mode is available during 1080iand 720P HD mode recording and standby, butdues not work in external input mode.In the 576i SD format, only the GRAPH display isavailable. When set to the EXPANDED mode, thefocus assist function does not work.
