11Chapter ConnectingtoExternalDevicesConnections to the DVCPRO/DV ConnectorRecording signals input to theDVCPRO/DV connector1 Connecta1cable(DVcable).For details, see [Precautions in 1394 Connections](page 152).• Make sure that the signal format of the cameraand the connected device is the same.2 TorouteinputsviatheIEEE1interface,setthemenuoptionRECSIGNALintheSYSTEMSETUPscreento1.• To use HD (1080i, 720P) set the menu optionREC FORMAT in the SYSTEM SETUP screen toDVCPRO HD/50i (DVCPRO HD/60i) or DVCPROHD/50P (DVCPRO HD/60P).The AVC-Intra format and DVCPRO HD nativerecording do not allow input via the IEEE1394interface. NOTE• Signals that have the same format as that set in the menuoptions SYSTEM MODE and REC FORMAT in the SYSTEMSETUP screen should be input to the IEEE1394 interface. Asignal in a different format will not be correctly recorded ona P2 card. Video and audio recording and EE type video andaudio of signal inputs other than 1x speed playback signalsmay not work. For details, see [Warning and Error Display for ThumbnailOperation and USB HOST MODE] (page 159).• Audio signal inputs are input signals from the DVCPRO/DVconnector.• 32 kHz/4CH (12 bit) audio signals input via the IEEE1394interface are recorded as 48 kHz/4CH (16 bit) on a P2 card.• It is not possible to use the GENLOCK IN connector tosynchronize to an external reference signal.• Signals output from the VIDEO OUT or AUDIO OUTconnectors differ from actual input signals. Use such signalsfor monitoring.• The following functions do not operate.• Pre-recording function• Loop recording function• Interval recording and one-shot recording functionTime Code and User Bits• When input from the IEEE1394 interface is selected, the time code or user bits input to the TC IN connectorcannot be recorded on a P2 card.• When input from the IEEE1394 interface is selected, time code output from the TC OUT connector is notsynchronized to the video signal output from the VIDEOOUT connector.Subcode area time codes and user bits• When input from the IEEE1394 interface is selected andthe TCG switch is set to F-RUN, the time code of thesubcode area input from the DVCPRO/DV connector canbe recorded on the P2 card.• To record user bits input from the DVCPRO/DV connectoron a P2 card, set the menu option UB MODE inRECORDING SETUP to EXT.VAUX area time codes and user bitsWhen input from the IEEE1394 interface is selected, time code and user bits of the VAUX area input fromthe DVCPRO/DV connector is recorded on a P2 cardregardless of camera menu settings and switch positions.Recording UMID (Unique MaterialIdentifier) dataWhen input from the IEEE1394 interface is selected, UMIDdata input via the DVCPRO/DV connector is recorded ona P2 card. When no UMID data is available, the cameragenerates and records such data.UMID data is not recorded when the camera is operating inthe DV mode.
