HL-G1 User's Manual 7.1 Problems and Remedies119Type Problem Possible cause RemedyThe moving average is small. Increase the number of moving average. The light emitter/receiver is dirty. Remove the dirt on the light emitter/receiver.The mounting direction of thesensor head is incorrect. Check the mounting direction of sensor head.3 Measurement val-ues vary. The sensor head or measure-ment object is tilted.Check the mounting of the sensor head andthe setting position of the measurement object. The wiring is incorrect. RS422 and RS485 communication requiredifferent wiring. Connect the wires correctly. Use a twisted-pair cable to ensure stablecommunication. The RS422/485 connecting cableis disconnected.Check the connection between RS422/485cable and connector. The connection mode and/orbaud rate are incorrect.Select the correct connection mode and baudrate. The communication settings forthe external device are incorrect.Check whether the communication settings ofthe external device match the communicationsettings in the sensor. The sensor number settings areincorrect. If a number of sensors are connected overRS485, every sensor needs to have a uniquesensor number. The wrong sensor has beenselected as the terminating sen-sor.Only set the last sensor as the terminatingresistor (R3). For all other sensor heads, theterminating resistor setting must be OFF.The communication quality isreduced as a result of the wiringcondition. The communication condition may be im-proved by lowering the baud rate. The communication condition may be im-proved by selecting the setting R1 or R2 forthe terminating resistor. An incorrect data format orcommand is transmitted.Refer to the error codes and send the datawith the correct format and command.Several commands are sentcontinuously without waiting forthe response from the controller.Send the next command after the controllertransmits the response to the previous com-mand.2 RS485 commu-nication controlfails. Normal commu-nication viaRS422/485 isnot possible. The settings were not savedwhile RS422/485 communicationwas used. You must send the "Save" command after youhave changed settings. If you do not save thenew settings, all changes will be discardedwhen you turn the power OFF.Rugghölzli 2CH - 5453 BusslingenTel. +41 (0)56 222 38 18Fax +41 (0)56 222 10 12mailbox@sentronic.comwww.sentronic.comProdukte, Support und ServiceSENTRONIC AG
