Introduction Page 11 INTRODUCTIONThe Quantum LTO drives are designed for computer environments requiring highperformance, ultra-high capacity data storage. The drives are available in 5.25-inchinternal configurations or as an external subsystem.Quantum LTO drives incorporate an embedded controller for either the SCSIParallel Interface (SPI), the Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface, or the FibreChannel Protocol for SCSI (FCP) interface. The parallel SCSI drives providesynchronous or asynchronous SCSI with high speed burst transfers of up to 160megabytes/second. The SAS interface provides burst data transfer rates of 300megabytes/second. Drives with Fibre Channel connections provide a burst transferrate of up to 425 megabytes/second. The internal drives are tailored for easyinstallation in today's computers and the full-featured embedded controller facilitateseasy integration into a variety of systems.1.1 About This ManualThe information in this manual applies to drives using LTO3 and LTO4 technology. For drive-specific installation and operational information, including connectorinformation, refer to the Installation Guide or Product Description Manual for thespecific model of your drive.1.2 Differences in Various Model BehaviorThis manual applies to the following models.• LTO3 Half High with SCSI Parallel Interface, SAS, & Fibre ChannelInterface• LTO4 Half High with SAS InterfaceEach model has some unique characteristics. Within this manual they are oftennoted as to what interface they apply to. The following is a brief list of some of thedifferences that will be found.Inquiry Pages:Standard Inquiry page has differences due to interface reporting and Modeland Product typeLog Pages:Added support for Log Page 12h – LTO 4 onlyLog Page 18h – SAS interface onlyLog Page 19h – SAS interface only
