Chapter 12 Installing, Removing, and ReplacingPermanently Removing Expansion Modules From an Existing LibraryScalar i500 User’s Guide 37015 If the module you are removing or replacing contains FC I/O blades,remove both the I/O blades and the accompanying fan blades fromthe expansion module. For details, see Adding, Removing, andReplacing FC I/O Blades on page 449 and Adding, Removing, andReplacing the FC I/O Fan Blade on page 460.16 Before removing a module, you must first remove all expansionmodules (if any) positioned above it. Disconnect all power cords,network data cables, and module-to-module cables from the moduleyou are removing or replacing and all modules located above it. Thenremove the modules.Permanently Removing Expansion Modules From anExisting LibraryThese instructions explain how to permanently remove an expansionmodule from the library.There are some configuration settings to take into account whenremoving an expansion module from an existing library.• COD licenses remain the same. After the expansion module isremoved, there may be more slots licensed than are available. Onlythe available slots appear on the License screen.Warning: Without tape drives, tape cartridges, or powersupplies, a control module weighs approximately 60lbs (27.2 kg). An expansion module, without tapedrives, tape cartridges, or power supplies, exceeds 65lbs (29.5 kg).To avoid serious injury, at least two people arerequired to safely lift the modules.Note: If the library is installed in a rack, you need to performadditional steps to remove modules from and placemodules into the rack.
