I-Class 127Appendix FSaving a Configuration FileWith application version 5.01 and above, the printer can save and restorecomplete printer settings, including media calibration parameters, as internalConfiguration Files. Here are the highlights and restrictions of this feature:• Configuration files eliminate the need to repeat the manual steps of aspecial printer setup, making future changeovers faster and easier.• Configuration files can be setup, saved, and restored either from the host orvia the front panel as ‘C-type’ files on Module Y under unique filenamesthat can be up to nineteen characters in length.• Configuration files enable the host, via special DPL commands, to controlparameters previously accessible only from the front panel (consult the I &W Programmers Manual for details).• Regular host settings can not be saved using the front panel menu.˛ Note: Configuration files will typically correspond to a particular printer andmedia application. If a file will be shared among printers, do NOTinclude unique parameters (such as calibrations and adjustments)because those settings will vary from one unit to another.When using the front panel to save a configuration file (see Section 4.1.5), thekeypad functions within the ‘Save Setting As’ submenu are as follows:åThe DOWN ARROW Key scrolls down through thealphanumeric, underscore, and delete character.çThe UP ARROW Key scrolls up through thealphanumeric and underscore characters, and the deletefunction.éThe ENTER Key accepts the displayed character andadvances the cursor.èSaves the displayed file.
