ELECTRIC STARTING SYSTEM8-8EAS30495TROUBLESHOOTINGThe starter motor fails to turn.TIP• Before troubleshooting, remove the following part(s):1. Fuse box cover2. Center cover3. Storage box4. Front upper panel5. Lower leg shield6. Upper handlebar coverNG →OK ↓NG →OK ↓OK →NG ↓NG →OK ↓NG →OK ↓NG →OK ↓NG →OK ↓1. Check the fuses.(Main and signaling system)Refer to “CHECKING THE FUS-ES” on page 8-59.Replace the fuse(s).2. Check the battery.Refer to “CHECKING ANDCHARGING THE BATTERY” onpage 8-60.• Clean the battery terminals.• Recharge or replace the battery.3. Check the starter motor operation.Refer to “CHECKING THE START-ER MOTOR OPERATION” on page8-65.Starter motor is OK. Perform the electricstarting system troubleshooting, startingwith step 5.4. Check the starter motor.Refer to “CHECKING THE START-ER MOTOR” on page 5-54.Repair or replace the starter motor.5.
