Measure the compressed Plastigaugewidth c each crankshaft journal.If the clearance is out of specification, selectreplacement crankshaft journal bearings.2. Select: crankshaft journal bearings (J1 J 5) The numbers stamped into the crankshaft weband the numbers stamped into the lowercrankcase are used to determine the replace-ment crankshaft journal bearing sizes. “J 1” “J 5” refer to the bearings shown in thecrankshaft illustration. If “J 1” “J5” are the same, use the same sizefor all of the bearings.For example, if the crankcase “J 1” and crank-shaft web “J 1” numbers are “6” and “2” respec-tively, then the bearing size for “J1” is:Bearing size for J 1:“J 1” (crankcase) – “J1” (crankshaftweb) – 1=6 – 2 – 1 = 3CRANKSHAFT JOURNAL BEARINGCOLOR CODE0 White1 Blue2 Black3 Brown4 GreenIf the size is the same for all “J1 to J 5”, one digitfor that size is indicated.
