B-2Adaptec RAID Installation GuideLED During Power-upDuring its power-up sequence, the controller passes through thefollowing states in sequence, as indicated by the LEDs:Note: The address translation unit (ATU), PCI bridge, andcache module (if installed) must be configured and enabledbefore controller initialization can be completed. If any ofthese components are not configured or become disabledduring the Fast Idle phase, the pattern reverts to the waitpattern of the affected component.LEDs During Controller IdleWhen no commands are in progress and all bus activity has ceased,the controller enters the idle state. This is indicated by a rotatingpattern in LEDs 1 through 8.LEDs During Controller ActiveWhen the controller is active, the LEDs indicate any of the followingstates:Condition LED DisplayMemory MappedI/OLEDs 6 and 7 and LEDs 5 and 8 flash alternatelywhile the controller waits for the host computer toinitialize the ATU on the PCI bus.Bridge LEDs 5 and 7 and LEDs 6 and 8 flash alternatelywhile the controller waits for the host computer toinitialize its PCI-to-PCI bridge.Fast Idle After the ATU and PCI bridge have been enabled, thecontroller enters a fast idle pattern while waiting forthe controller initialization commands.
