APPLET ALK ROUTING NETWORKOVERVIEWThis chapter provides an example configuration of an AppleTalk Routing network. Our AppleTalknetwork is made up of two LANs, separated by the WAN. The MACs on each side of the WANneed to exchange packets with the MACs on the other side of the WAN. Both LANs also have aCyberSWITCH (SITE1 and SITE2). When configured for AppleTalk routing, SITE1 and SITE2 willprovide the access the MACs need. This chapter describes the AppleTalk configuration process for a CyberSWITCH. We will walk youthrough the configuration for SITE1. Because the instructions would be similar, we do not describeSITE2’s configuration. For further network layout clarification, refer to the AppleTalk Routing Topology Worksheet.INITIAL I NSTALLATION STEPSThe initial steps in the CyberSWITCH installation process are basically the same no matter howcomplicated the network. These steps are:• completing the requirement worksheets• ordering ISDN service• powering on the system• accessing Release Notes• connecting an administration console• setting up Telnet access• upgrading system software• changing defaults to secure system• returning configuration to factory defaultsThe chapters Accessing the CyberSWITCH and Upgrading System Software (in the User’s Guide)describe these steps in detail.Worksheets for this network are included on the next few pages.
