Thisvehicle has theft-deterrent features,however, they do not make itimpossible to steal.Anti-Theft Alarm SystemThis vehicle has an anti-theft alarmsystem.The LED light, located on theinstrument panel near thewindshield, indicates the status ofthe system.In addition to standard theft deterrentsystem capabilities, this system alsohas a power sounder, intrusionsensor and inclination sensor.If this theft deterrent system isarmed, the alarm will sound any timea door, the trunk or the hood isopened. The turn signal lamps willflash for up to 30 seconds.The alarm can also be triggered by achange in vehicle position, such as ifthe vehicle is lifted, or by aninterruption of the vehicle's powersupply. The power sounder has aninternal battery. If the vehicle losesbattery power when the theftdeterrent system is armed, the powersounder will activate automatically.Arming the SystemTo arm the system,1. Close all doors, liftgate and hood.2. Lock the vehicle using thetransmitter. The LED on theinstrument panel should come onand stay on for about 30seconds.3. After 30 seconds, the alarmsystem will arm, and the LED willbegin to slowly flash indicatingthe alarm is operating.If a door, the hood, or liftgate isopened without first unlocking withthe transmitter, the vehicle’s turnsignals will flash and the horn willsound for about 30 seconds. Thealarm system will then re-arm tomonitor for the next unauthorizedevent.The theft-deterrent alarm system willnot activate if the doors are lockedwith the vehicle's key or the manualdoor lock. You can start the vehiclewith a recognized transmitter in thevehicle if the alarm has been set off.Disarming the SystemTo disarm the system, either unlockthe doors using the transmitter, orstart the vehicle with a recognizedtransmitter in the vehicle.To avoid setting off the alarm byaccident:• Lock the vehicle with thetransmitter after all occupantshave left the vehicle and all doorsare closed.srx.book Page 17 Monday, June 8, 2009 8:28 AM
