9-40Electrical SystemElectrical SystemOverloadThe vehicle has fuses and circuitbreakers to protect against anelectrical system overload. When the current electrical load istoo heavy, the circuit breaker opensand closes, protecting the circuit untilthe current load returns to normal orthe problem is fixed. This greatlyreduces the chance of circuitoverload and fire caused by electricalproblems.Fuses and circuit breakers protectthe following in the vehicle:• Headlamp Wiring• Windshield Wiper Motor• Power Windows and other PowerAccessoriesHeadlamp WiringAn electrical overload may cause thelamps to go on and off, or in somecases to remain off. Have theheadlamp wiring checked right awayif the lamps go on and off or remainoff.Windshield WipersIf the wiper motor overheats due toheavy snow or ice, the windshieldwipers will stop until the motor coolsand will then restart.Although the circuit is protected fromelectrical overload, overload due toheavy snow or ice, may cause wiperlinkage damage. Always clear iceand heavy snow from the windshieldbefore using the windshield wipers. If the overload is caused by anelectrical problem and not snow orice, be sure to get it fixed.srx.book Page 40 Monday, June 8, 2009 8:28 AM
