G-5GlossaryGroup dialGroup Dialling allows you to dial up to 199 previously registered One-touchSpeed Dialling or Coded Speed Dialling numbers together as a group. Thismeans you only need to press a One-touch speed dial button or the CODEDDIAL button followed by a three-digit code to dial a large group of numbersautomatically. You register each group of facsimile numbers for a One-touch orCoded Speed Dialling button, so make sure a button is available before trying toregister Group Dialling. Once a group is defined, you can add or delete numbersto/from the group.Group numberList of all facsimiles to receive a relayed document. These are two-digit codesbetween 00-99. The group number is registered on the facsimile with the relayfeature.IIN USE lampLights when the telephone line is in use.JJackThe telephone line receptacles on your wall and on the side of your fax unit usedto connect your fax machine to the telephone line and handset or extensionphone.LLong distance diallingWhen dialling or registering long-distance numbers, you sometimes have to inserta pause either within or after the telephone number. The destination and lengthof the pause differ depending on the system. Contact your local authorizedCanon dealer or your local telephone company for further information if youexperience problems with long distance dialling.MManual receivingUse this setting if you have installed the optional handset kit and there is onlyone line connected to your office which you use for both phone and faxcommunication, and you want to monitor all incoming calls yourself. When youhear the ringer, pick up the handset and answer the phone. If you hear a slowbeep, this means someone is trying to send you a facsimile transmission. PressSTART/SCAN and hang up the handset to start receiving the document. You cannot receive documents if there is another document fed into the fax.
