3 Commissioning3.1 Putting the SmartWire-DT into operationSmartWire-DT Gateway EU5C-SWD-EIP-MODTCP 08/17 MN120003Z EN www.eaton.com 273 CommissioningBefore switching on, check whether the power supply for the gateway isconnected correctly. The configuration and installation of the SmartWire-DTline must also have been carried out correctly with all modules connected.Commissioning takes place in several steps:1 Commissioning the SmartWire-DT line2 Creating the project configuration and transferring it to the gateway.3 Setting Ethernet communication parameters.4 Create a connection to the field bus.5 Load and start the PLC program.Rules for successfully commissioning an EU5C-EIP-MODTCPMake sure to follow the rules below in order to successfully commission thegateway:In order to be able to run the device, the target configuration and the plannedSWD configuration must be stored in it. Both must be identical. The devicewill only start properly if the actual configuration matches the target configu-ration when the device starts and the target configuration matches theplanned SWD configuration.3.1 Putting the SmartWire-DT into operation→ Chapter 8 "What you need to know about SmartWire-DT“, page 81 goesover the terms and basic knowledge related to SmartWire-DT.Before the gateway can exchange data with the PLC, the target configurationneeds to be imported and stored in the gateway. The target configuration willbe compared with the current actual configuration every time the gateway isstarted. During this process, the gateway will determine whether there areany SWD modules that cannot be reached or whether a wrong type of mod-ule is plugged into the SWD line. SmartWire-DT's response to any detected DANGERIf you already have integrated devices and equipment in a sys-tem, block off any parts of the system that are connected to theworking area in order to prevent access. This will ensure that noone will be injured if the system behaves unexpectedly, e.g.,motors start up unexpectedly. DANGERSwitch off the power supply whenever you are reconnectingmodules in the SmartWire-DT system. The SmartWire-DT mod-ules may be permanently ruined otherwise!
