Wear padsare placed on boom tube surfaces to provide a lowfriction, replaceable wear pad between movingparts. Improperly shimmed wear pads or continueduse of worn out wear pads may result in componentdamage and unsafe operating conditions.1 Start the engine from the ground controls.2 Raise the end of the primary boom to acomfortable working height (chest high), thenextend the boom 1 foot / 30 cm.3 Measure each wear pad. Replace the wear pad ifit is less than 9/ 16 inch / 14.3 mm. If the wearpad is not less than 9 /16 inch / 14.3 mm, shimas necessary to obtain zero clearance and zerodrag.4 Extend and retract the primary boom through theentire range of motion to check for tight spotsthat may cause binding or scraping of the boom.Always maintain squarenessbetween the outer and innerboom tubes.Wear pad specificationsAll wear pads 9 / 16 inch14.3 mmD-2Check the Turntable RotationBearing BoltsMaintaining proper torque on the turntable bearingbolts is essential to safe machine operation.Improper bolt torque could result in an unsafeoperating condition and component damage.1 Raise the secondary boom until the platform endof the lower secondary boom arm is8 feet (2.4 m) off the ground.2 Turn the engine off.3 Attach the lifting strap from an overhead craneto the platform end of the lower secondary boomarm for support. Do not lift.4 Be sure that each turntable bearing bolt istorqued in specified order to210 ft-lbs / 285 Nm.Bolt torque sequence
