The VMware ESXi embedded hypervisor software is available on the optionalIBM USB flash device with embedded hypervisor. The USB flash device can beinstalled in the USB connector on the SAS/SATA RAID riser card (see thefollowing illustration). Hypervisor is virtualization software that enablesmultiple operating systems to run on a host system at the same time. The USBflash device is required to activate the hypervisor functions. For moreinformation about using the embedded hypervisor, see “Using the embeddedhypervisor” on page 411.v Remote presence and blue-screen capture featuresThe remote presence and blue-screen capture features are integrated functions ofthe Integrated Management Module (IMM). The remote presence featureprovides the following functions:– Remotely viewing video with graphics resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 at 75 Hz,regardless of the system state– Remotely accessing the server, using the keyboard and mouse from a remoteclient– Mapping the CD or DVD drive, diskette drive, and USB flash drive on aremote client, and mapping ISO and diskette image files as virtual drives thatare available for use by the server– Uploading a diskette image to the IMM memory and mapping it to the serveras a virtual driveThe blue-screen capture feature captures the video display contents before theIMM restarts the server when the IMM detects an operating-system hangcondition. A system administrator can use the blue-screen capture feature toassist in determining the cause of the hang condition.v Ethernet controller configurationFor information about configuring the Ethernet controller, see “Configuring theGigabit Ethernet controller” on page 414.v Configuring RAID arraysFor information about configuring RAID arrays, see“Configuring RAID arrays”on page 415.v IBM Advanced Settings Utility (ASU) programUse this program as an alternative to the Setup utility for modifying UEFIsettings. Use the ASU program online or out of band to modify UEFI settingsfrom the command line without the need to restart the server to access the Setuputility. For more information about using this program, see “IBM AdvancedSettings Utility program” on page 415.v Service AdvisorThe Service Advisor feature can collect data about the system when the systemdetects a fault and sends that data to IBM Service for problem determination. Italso includes the call home feature that automatically calls IBM Service when aproblem occurs. The Service Advisor feature is integrated into the IntegratedManagement Module (IMM). For more information about the Service Advisorfeature, see “Enabling the Service Advisor feature” on page 414.Chapter 6. Configuration information and instructions 399
