Getting Started 3Series E4360 User’s Guide 49IP Address This value is the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the instrument. AnIP address is required for all IP and TCP/IP communications with theinstrument. An IP Address consists of 4 decimal numbers separatedby periods. Each decimal number ranges from 0 through 255.Subnet Mask This value is used to enable the instrument to determine if a clientIP address is on the same local subnet. When a client IP address ison a different subnet, all packets must be sent to the DefaultGateway.DefaultGatewayThis value is the IP Address of the default gateway that allows theinstrument to communicate with systems that are not on the localsubnet, as determined by the subnet mask setting. A value of0.0.0.0 indicates that no default gateway is defined.NameSelect Name to configure the hostname of the instrument. If you want tochange the hostname, you should do so before you connect theinstrument to the network. Otherwise, the original hostname may becached in the network for up to several hours.Host name This field registers the supplied name with the selected namingservice. If the field is left blank, no name is registered. A hostnamemay contain upper and lower case letters, numbers and dashes(-).The maximum length is 15 characters. Use the navigation keys toenter an alpha character. Use the up/down navigation or arrow keysto select a letter from the alphabetic choices as you scroll throughthe selections. Use the number keys to enter a number.Each SAS is shipped with a default hostname with the format: A-modelnumber-serialnumber, where modelnumber is themainframe’s 6-character model number (e.g. E4360A), andserialnumber is the last five characters of the 10-charactermainframe serial number located on the label on the top of the unit(e.g. 45678 if the serial number is MY12345678).A-E4360A-45678 is an example of a hostname.Use Dynamic DNSnaming serviceRegisters the hostname using the Dynamic DNS naming system.Use NetBIOSnaming serviceRegisters the hostname using the RFC NetBIOS naming protocol.DomainSelect Domain if your DNS server requires an instrument to register notonly the hostname, but also the domain name.Domain name Registers the Internet domain for the instrument. The Domain muststart with a letter and may contain upper and lower case letters,numbers, dashes(-) and dots(.). Use the navigation keys to enter analpha character.
