The fullperformance of a new battery isachieved only after two or threecomplete charge and dischargecycles. The battery can be chargedand discharged hundreds of times,but it will eventually wear out.When the talk and standby timesare noticeably shorter thannormal, replace the battery. Useonly Nokia approved batteries, andrecharge your battery only withNokia approved chargersdesignated for this device.If a replacement battery is beingused for the first time or if thebattery has not been used for aprolonged period, it may benecessary to connect the chargerthen disconnect and reconnect itto begin charging the battery.Unplug the charger from theelectrical plug and the devicewhen not in use. Do not leave afully charged battery connected toa charger, since overcharging mayshorten its lifetime. If left unused,a fully charged battery will lose itscharge over time.If the battery is completelydischarged, it may take a fewminutes before the chargingindicator appears on the display orbefore any calls can be made.Use the battery only for itsintended purpose. Never use anycharger or battery that isdamaged.Do not short-circuit the battery.Accidental short-circuiting canoccur when a metallic object suchas a coin, clip, or pen causes directconnection of the positive (+) andnegative (-) terminals of thebattery. (These look like metalstrips on the battery.) This mighthappen, for example, when youcarry a spare battery in yourpocket or purse. Short-circuitingthe terminals may damage thebattery or the connecting object.Leaving the battery in hot or coldplaces, such as in a closed car insummer or winter conditions, willreduce the capacity and lifetime ofthe battery. Always try to keep thebattery between 15°C and 25°C(59°F and 77°F). A device with ahot or cold battery may not worktemporarily, even when thebattery is fully charged. Battery
