Application Gateway Administration GuideChapter 10 Transformed ApplicationsConfiguring the External Public Protocol, Address, and Port1254 Let the Design Studio user know the new password (which can be changedin Design Studio).Configuring the External Public Protocol, Address, and Port When the Application Gateway proxies a web page, it rewrites each link, prepending the appropriate address for the Application Gateway. As aresult, the links are directed through the Application Gateway withouthaving to rewrite the underlying web page. The following settings specifyhow links are to be written:• External Public ProtocolSpecify an External Public Protocol when you want the ApplicationGateway to rewrite its links, such as when you have an SSLtermination device located between the client and the ApplicationGateway. Choose HTTP or HTTPS to force a rewrite to those protocols.Choose Auto to rewrite links to HTTPS if the client is connectedthrough SSL and to rewrite to HTTP is the client is not connectedthrough SSL.• External Public AddressThe Application Gateway uses the External Public Address to rewriteURLs sent to the requesting IP phone. This feature makes all requestsappear to originate from the same client and enables the ApplicationGateway to send its response to a request back on the correct networkconnection. If an External Public Address is not specified, the ApplicationGateway sends responses out through the interface where the gatewayis identified. If the External Public Address is specified, theApplication Gateway writes all connections to the interface with thespecified host name or IP address. The External Public Address can be a Network Address Translation(NAT) IP address/host name or a registered domain address so thatyou can put the Application Gateway on one IP address and resolve toit using NAT or name resolution.Suppose that you have the following scenario:
