Refer to the Broadcast Server UserGuide for detailed instructions.Overview of Broadcast ServerThe Broadcast Server requires the Application Gateway for operation.While Broadcast Server provides an interface for creating and schedulingalert delivery, the Application Gateway manages alerts and transformsthem for delivery to IP telephones using the UNISTIM API. TheApplication Gateway also provides Broadcast Server with device anddirectory information and handles all communication with the IPtelephones, media servers, and directory servers.For capacity information, refer to the Application Gateway Release Notes.Each Application Gateway must have enough licenses installed toaccommodate the phones to be registered to it. Unless there is a one-to-onemapping between the Application Gateway and call server, the number oflicenses to be installed on each Application Gateway can be derived bydividing the number of phones by the number of Application Gateways.Network DeploymentBroadcast Server should be deployed on a standalone computer runningMicrosoft Internet Information Services (IIS). While it is possible to installBroadcast Server on a shared IIS server, that decision should be based onthe expected load of the server.Note Other Voice Office applications can be deployed on the ApplicationGateway used with Broadcast Server.If you install Broadcast Server on a web server that supports multiple websites, a Broadcast Server virtual directory will be created below theprimary site.
