Application Gateway Administration GuideChapter 6 Broadcast Server InstallationHardware and Software Overview73Hardware and Software OverviewBroadcast Server is a software-only solution requiring installation of theserver software on a computer running Microsoft Internet InformationServices.Once installed on the IIS server, users may access Broadcast Server tocreate and manage content to be distributed, via the Application Gateway,to IP telephones.Broadcasts are received in the order in which they are sent. If a phone isbusy, a broadcast is queued.Software Server RequirementsBroadcast Server is a software component residing inside MicrosoftInternet Information Services. As such, the minimum requirements forBroadcast Server are:• 1 GHz Intel Pentium CPU with 256MB RAM and 50MB hard diskspace.• Windows 2000 Server SP4, Windows XP Service Pack 2, or Windows2003 Server SP1.• Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0 for Windows 2000 orMicrosoft IIS 6.0 for Windows 2003 with ASP enabled; Windows XP(limited).Note If your distribution list has 10 or fewer entries and you have a smallnumber of phones, you can also alternatively install BCS onWindows XP and use Microsoft IIS 6.0 for Windows XP. Alimitation of Windows XP is that it cannot handle more than 10concurrent requests. As a result, if this limit is exceeded, IIS willnot receive confirmations from the Application Gateway and thuswill send duplicate alerts to some subscribers. In addition,Windows XP can subscribe only 10 phones at a time.• ActiveX controls must be downloadable from the Web server.• The server must have a static IP address.• Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.
