Chapter 8 Troubleshooting 177Network Managers Guide for Symposium TAPI Service Provider for Succession, release 3.0Symposium TAPI SP fails to initialize linesIf Symposium TAPI SP supports more than 50 lines, the lines can fail to initializewhen you start Symposium TAPI SP. The failure occurs because the initializationtime-out value is too low. The default and minimum value for this parameter is 32seconds, but you must increase the value if you are supporting more than 50 lines. For information on changing the initialization time-out value, refer to“Configuring the provider table” on page 91.Cannot enable telephony service on 2003 serversThis can happen when Windows 2003 servers are unable to acquire user-to-lineassignments in a Windows NT domain. Windows 2003 Servers require ActiveDirectory Services to acquire the line assignments. Active Directory Services arenot supported in a Windows NT domain. Also, the DNS entries on the Windows2003 Server must point to servers which support Active Directory Services. It isrequired that primary domain controllers and DNS servers must support ActiveDirectory Services when using a Windows 2003 Server for the Symposium TAPISP platform.First call attempt failsIf your first attempt to make a call fails, after you install and configure the varioushardware and software components of your TAPI environment, verify thefollowing are configured correctly:• all hardware connections• direct connect and value added server (VAS) ID• DCE/DTE jumper settings• direct connect (Link 0) values• Meridian Link (Link 1) values• IP address of the TAPI server• host database table values• TAPI client application
