TASCAM DP-32 497 - Recorder FunctionsPunching in and outPunching in/out is a technique used to replace a part ofan already recorded track.Start playback and when you reach the part that you wantto replace, switch to record (punch in), then switch backto playback (or stop) when you finish replacing the partthat you want (punch out).1. Decide what part of the track you plan to re-record.Choose a point to begin where the new recording cansit well with the existing recording.2. Press the REC buttons of the tracks that you wantto partially re-record to put them into recordingstandby (REC buttons start flashing).3. Start playback before the part you want to replace.4. When the part you want to replace is reached,press the RECORD (0) button and start yourperformance.Recording starts (punch in).5. When you finish the replacement recording, pressthe PLAY (7) button.Playback resumes (punch out).TIPYou can also press the STOP (8) button to punch out at theend of the replacement recording.Using a footswitch to punch in/outYou can connect a TASCAM RC-3F footswitch (soldseparately) to the REMOTE jack on the front panel anduse it to punch in and out.In step 4 above, step on the footswitch instead ofpressing the RECORD (0) button, and in step 5, step onthe footswitch again instead of pressing the PLAY (7)button.TASCAM RC-3F footswitch(sold separately)NOTEStep on the switch (pedal) that you have set to PUNCH IN/OUT in the footswitch settings. By default, the center pedalis set to PUNCH IN/OUT. (See "Setting the footswitch"below.)Setting the footswitchSet the footswitch on the PREFERENCE screen.1. When the recorder is stopped, press the MENUbutton to open the MENU screen.2. Use the JOG/DATA dial or the CURSOR (5/b/g/t)buttons to select (highlight green) PREFERENCE,and then press the F4 (t) button.The PREFERENCE screen opens.3. Use the CURSOR (5/b) buttons to select (highlightblue) Foot SW Right.4. Use the JOG/DATA dial to select the functionthat you want to assign to the right pedal of theTASCAM RC-3F footswitch.Options: PLAY, REC, STOP, FF, REW,PUNCH IN/OUT, PLAY/STOP (right pedaldefault), CUE LOCATE5.
