78 TASCAM DP-3213 - Exchanging Data with a ComputerTrack import and exportYou can import and export individual tracks between acomputer and this unit using the AudioDepot folder.Files must be WAV files (with the ".WAV" extension) to beimported/exported as tracks.You can import both mono and stereo files, and exportmono files.If you want to import an audio file of a different formatinto this unit, you must convert it to a WAV file first.Importing tracks1. Connect the unit to a computer. (See "Connectingto a computer" on page 76.)2. Use the computer to copy WAV files to theAudioDepot folder on the SD card in this unit.NOTEThe files to be copied must have single-byte alphanumericcharacter names. If you try to copy a file with double-bytecharacters, it cannot be imported because the file name willnot appear on the display in step 6 below,.3. Disconnect the unit properly from thecomputer, and then unplug the USB cable. (See"Disconnecting" on page 77.)4. Press the MENU button to open the MENU screen.5. Use the JOG/DATA dial or the CURSOR (5/b/g/t)buttons to select (highlight green) AUDIO DEPOT,and then press the F4 (t) button.WAV files that can be imported appear.6. Use the JOG/DATA dial or the CURSOR (5/b)buttons to select the WAV file that you want toimport, and then press the F1 (IMPORT) button.Empty tracks that can be imported appear.NOTE• If you are trying to import a WAV file with attributes thatdo not match the current song, an error pop-up messageappears. For example, this occurs if the current song is44.1 kHz and you try to import a 48 kHz WAV file. If thereis no file that can be imported, FILE NOT FOUNDappears.• When the file name is short, spaces appear after the filename, but those spaces are not included in the actual filename.7. Use the JOG/DATA dial or the CURSOR (5/b)buttons to select the track to be imported, andthen press the F4 (t) button.A confirmation message appears.NOTEIf the WAV file to be imported is stereo, you must select atrack pair.8. Press the F2 (YES) button to start importing thefile.NOTE• If there is not enough space or the file format is wrong, anerror message appears.• The beginning of the file is set at the start of the song(00:00:00:00). In the same way as with otherrecording tracks, you can edit a track with an importedfile. (See "Overview of track Editing" on page 57.)• To import a stereo WAV file, an empty stereo track isnecessary.9. Once importing completes, a pop-up windowappears and then the Audio Depot screenreopens.10. Press the HOME button to return to the Homescreen.
