5 Operation5.9.5 Absolute Encoder Setup5-705.9.5 Absolute Encoder SetupSetting up the absolute encoder is necessary in the following cases.• When starting the machine for the first time• When an encoder backup error alarm (A.810) is generated• When an encoder checksum error alarm (A.820) is generated• To set the absolute encoder rotational data to 0Setup the absolute encoder with Fn008.(1) Precautions on Setup• Setup the encoder when the servo ON (/S_ON) signal is OFF.• If the following absolute encoder alarms are displayed, cancel the alarm by using the same method as thesetup (initializing). They cannot be canceled with the SERVOPACK alarm reset input signal (/ALM-RST).• Encoder backup error alarm (A.810)• Encoder checksum error alarm (A.820)• Any other alarms that monitor the inside of the encoder should be canceled by turning OFF the power, thencanceling the alarm.(2) Procedure for SetupFollow the steps below to setup the absolute encoder.CAUTION• If the absolute value encoder is initialized, rotational data will be set to 0 and the reference position of themachine system will change. If the machine is operated in this state, the machine may move unexpectedly and injury, death, or machinedamage may result. Be sufficiently careful when initializing the absolute encoder.Step Display afterOperation Keys Description1 Press the MODE/SET Key to select the utility functionmode.2Press the UP or the DOWN Key to select Fn008.Note: When "no_OP" blinks for approximately one second, the write prohibited setting is set in Fn010. Changethe setting in Fn010 and press the key again afterenabling writing. (Refer to 7.12.)3 Press the DATA/SHIFT Key for approximately one second. The display shown on the left appears.4Continue pressing the UP Key until "PGCL5" is displayed.Note: If there is a mistake in the key operation, "nO_OP"will blink for approximately one second. Start theoperation from the beginning.5Press the MODE/SET Key. The absolute encoder is initial-ized.When completed, "donE" blinks for approximately one sec-ond.6 "PGCL5" is displayed again.7 Press the DATA/SHIFT Key for approximately one second."Fn008" is displayed again.8 Turn OFF the power, and then turn it ON again to make the setting valid.MODE /SET DATA /MODE/SET DATA/MODE/SET DATA/MODE/SET DATA/MODE /SET DATA /MODE/SET DATA/
