GENERAL EGENERALCHECKING THE ANODECheck:• Anodes• Trim tabScales Ô Clean.Oil/grease Ô Clean.Excessive wear Ô Replace.CAUTIONDo not oil, grease, or paint the anode, or itwill no operate properly.CHECKING THE BATTERYWARNINGBattery electrolytic fluid is dangerous; itcontains sulfuric acid and therefore ispoisonous and highly caustic.Always follow these preventive measures:• Avoid bodily contact with electrolytic fluidas it can cause severe burns or permanenteye injury.• Wear protective eye gear when handling orworking near batteries.Antidote (EXTERNAL):• SKIN - Flush with water.• EYES - Flush with water for 15 minutes andget immediate medical attention.Antidote (INTERNAL):• Drink large quantities of water or milkfollowed by milk of magnesia, beaten egg,or vegetable oil. Get immediate medicalattention.Batteries also generate explosive hydrogengas; therefore, you should always followthese preventive measures:• Change batteries in a well-ventilated area.• Keep batteries away from fire, soarks, oropen flames (e.g., welding equipment,lighted cigarettes, etc.).• DO NOT SMOKE when charging orhandling batteries.KEEP BATTERIES AND ELECTROLYTICFLUID OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.3-23 |
