The password must be in plain text if you specify the simplekeyword in the set authentication password command. If you specify the cipherkeyword, the password can be in either encrypted text or plain text. When you enterthe password in plain text containing up to 16 characters (such as 123), the systemconverts the password to the corresponding 24-character encrypted password (suchas 7-CZB#/YX]KQ=^Q`MAF4<1!!). Make sure you are aware of the correspondingplain password if you enter the password in ciphered text (such as7-CZB#/YX]KQ=^Q `MAF4<1!!).DescriptionUse the set authentication password command to set the local password.Use the undo set authentication password command to remove the localpassword.Note that only plain text passwords are expected when users are authenticated.Note:By default, modem users and Telnet users need to provide their passwords to log in.
