86 V6100 and V7122 User Guide Quick Setup – Use this menu to configure the gateway’s basic settings; for the full list ofconfigurable parameters go directly to ‘Protocol Management’ and ‘AdvancedConfiguration’ menus. An example of the Quick Setup configuration is described inConfiguring the V7122 Basic Parameters. Protocol Management – Use this menu to configure the gateway’s control protocolparameters and tables (see Protocol Management). Advanced Configuration – Use this menu to set the gateway’s advanced configurationparameters (for advanced users only) (see Advanced Configuration). Status & Diagnostics – Use this menu to view and monitor the gateway’s channels,Syslog messages, hardware / software product information, and to assess the gateway’sstatistics and IP connectivity information (see Configuring the SNMP Managers Table). Software Update – Use this menu when you want to load new software or configurationfiles onto the gateway (see Software Update Menu). Save Configuration – Use this menu to save configuration changes to the non-volatileflash memory (see Save Configuration). Reset – Use this menu to remotely reset the gateway. Note that you can choose to savethe gateway configuration to flash memory before reset (see Save Configuration). When positioning your curser over a parameter name (or a table) for more than 1 second, ashort description of this parameter is displayed. Note that parameters preceded by anexclamation mark (!) are not changeable on-the-fly and require that the device be reset.Saving ChangesTo save changes to the volatile memory (RAM) click the Submit button (changes toparameters with on-the-fly capabilities are immediately available, other parameter areupdated only after a gateway reset). Parameters that are only saved to the volatile memoryrevert to their previous settings after hardware reset. When performing a software reset (i.e.,via Web or SNMP) you can choose to save the changes to the non-volatile memory. To savechanges so they are available after a power fail, you must save the changes to the non-volatile memory (flash). When Save Configuration is performed, all parameters are saved tothe flash memory. To save the changes to flash, see Save Configuration.Entering Phone Numbers in Various TablesPhone numbers entered into various tables on the gateway, such as the Tel to IP routingtable, must be entered without any formatting characters. For example, if you wish to enterthe phone number 555-1212, it must be entered as 5551212 without the hyphen (-). If thehyphen is entered, the entry does not work. The hyphen character is used in number entryonly, as part of a range definition. For example, the entry [20-29] means ‘all numbers in therange 20 to 29’.
