CSX7000 C ABLINGThis chapter describes how to make the cable connections to accommodate the CSX7000. Itaddresses the installation of a single CSX7000 (a table top installation) as well as a clusterinstallation. For both types of installations, you will need a local console (monitor and keyboard) whichconnects directly to the CSX7000. You may also have a remote console connection for networkadministration, although this is not required. This remote console connection is more typical insites that support multiple CSX7000s, with a network administrator located in an office separatefrom the equipment room. You will also need to set the IES address for each CSX7000 in your cluster. Especially in a rackinstallation, you should set these addresses prior to completing the cabling. For more information, refer to the EMS bus and setting the IES address.S ETUP FOR A S INGLE CSX7000In a system with a single CSX7000, cabling is necessary for video hookup, system monitoring, andpower supply connection. These connections are described in Platform Description.VIDEO CONNECTIONSL OCAL C ONSOLE C ONNECTIONTo set up your local console cable connection, follow these steps:• You will be supplied with a DB-25 male-to-male cable. Connect one end of this cable to the VID-EO OUT connector on the rear of the CSX7000.• Connect the other end of the DB-25 cable to the video/keyboard breakout box.• Connect the monitor and keyboard cables from the local console to the breakout box.CAUTION: 1 MINUTEPOWER OFF REQUIRED INOUTIESVIDEOOUTVIDEOINERS / FTIES SUPERVISORIN OUT9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 116 15 14 13 12 11 10PS2PS1System MonitoringConnectorsPowerVideoConnectorsBackplaneSlotsInstall power cordstrain relief here
