The automatic dimmingfeature is activated whenever the vehicle isturned on and dims only during nighttime driving.Compass OperationAUTO 3: Press and hold the “auto highbeam”button for approximately three seconds to turnthe compass on or off.When the ignition and the compass feature areon, the compass will show two character boxesfor about two seconds. After two seconds,the mirror will display the compass heading.Compass CalibrationIf after two seconds the display does not show thecorrect direction, (N for North for example),there may be a strong magnetic field interferingwith the compass. Such interference may becaused by a magnetic antenna mount, magneticnote pad holder, or a similar magnetic item.The compass can be placed in calibration modemanually by pressing and holding the “autohighbeam” button for approximately nine secondsuntil a C is shown in the compass display.The mirror can then be calibrated by driving thevehicle in circles at 5 mph (8 km/h) or less until thedisplay reads a direction.128
