Follow the procedure “UPS Installation into an Existing Parallel System” onpage 53 if you are installing one or more additional UPSs into an existing parallel, orparallel-ready, configuration.In this case, the first UPS may have a black terminating plug in the CAN IN port,or there may be a blue terminating plug in the CAN IN port of the first UPS and ablue terminating plug in the CAN OUT port of the last UPS.New Multiple Parallel UPS InstallationW A R N I N GOnly qualified service personnel (such as a licensed electrician) shall perform the electrical installation. Riskof electrical shock.NOTE Do not make unauthorized changes to the UPSs; otherwise, damage may occur to your equipmentand void your warranty.To install two to six UPSs in a new parallel configuration:1. Verify that the UPSs to be paralleled are installed in individual rail kits in a rackcontaining a BladeUPS Bar.2. Switch off utility power to the distribution point where the parallel system will beconnected. Be absolutely sure there is no power.3. Verify that all circuit breakers are in the OFF (O) position.NOTE The load connector breaker controls the load connector only, not the output power cord.4. Unpack the Powerware Hot Sync CAN Bridge Card and verify that the card wasnot damaged during shipment (see Figure 33).Figure 33.
