Error logsThe server generates three error logs:v POST error logThis log contains the three most recent error codes and messages that weregenerated during POST.v System-event/error logThis log contains messages that were generated during POST and all systemstatus messages from the service processor.v BMC system event logThis log contains messages that were generated by the mini-BMC controller. The system event/error log and mini-BMC system event log are limited in size. When these logs are full, new entries will not overwrite existing entries; therefore, you must periodically clear them through the Configuration/Setup Utility program(the menu choices are described in the User’s Guide). When you aretroubleshooting an error, be sure to clear both logs so that you can find currenterrors more easily.Important: After you complete a repair or correct an error, clear the mini-BMCsystem-event log to turn off the system-error LED on the front of the server.Entries that are written to the system-event/error log and mini-BMC system eventlog during the early phase of POST show an incorrect date and time as the defaulttime stamp; however, the date and time are corrected as POST continues. Each system-event/error log entry is displayed on its own page. To move from oneentry to the next, use the Up Arrow (↑) and Down Arrow (↓) keys. You can view the contents of the POST error log and the system-event/error logfrom the Configuration/Setup Utility program. You can view the contents of theDynamic System Analysis (DSA) error log from the diagnostic programs on the IBMDynamic System Analysis Preboot Diagnostic CD. For more information about theDSA diagnostic programs, see “Diagnostic programs and messages” on page 155.Viewing error logs from the Configuration/Setup Utility programFor complete information about using the Configuration/Setup Utility program, seethe User’s Guide. To view the error logs from the Configuration/Setup Utility program, complete thefollowing steps:1.
