Diagnostic programs and messagesThe IBM Dynamic System Analysis (DSA) Preboot diagnostic programs are theprimary method of testing the major components of the server. DSA is a systeminformation collection and analysis tool that you can use to provide information toIBM service and support to aid in the diagnosis of the system problems. The DSAdiagnostic programs comes on the IBM Dynamic System Analysis PrebootDiagnostic CD. You can download the CD from http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=psg1SERV-DSA, if one did not come with your server. As you runthe diagnostic programs, text messages are displayed on the screen and are savedin the test log. A diagnostic text message indicates that a problem has beendetected and indicates what action you should take as a result of the text message. The DSA diagnostic programs collect information about the following aspects ofsystem:v System configurationv Network interfaces and settingsv Hardware inventory, including PCI and USB informationv IBM light path diagnostics statusv Service processor status and configurationv Vital product data, firmware, and basic input/output system (BIOS)v Drive health informationv ServeRAID configurationv LSI RAID and controller configurationv Event logs for ServeRAID controllers and service processorsThe DSA diagnostic programs can also provide diagnostics for the following systemcomponents, if they are installed in the system:v BroadCom NetXtreme IIv Optical (CD or DVD) drivesv Hard disk drivesv LSI 1064e/1068e/1078e SAS RAID controllerv Remote Supervisor Adapterv Baseboard management controllerv Trusted Platform Module chipv Memoryv Microprocessorv Checkpoint panel testThe diagnostic programs create a merged log called the DSA error log, whichincludes events from all collected logs. You can output all of the collectedinformation as a compressed XML file that you can send to IBM service andsupport, view the information locally through a generated text report file, or copy thelog to a removable media and view the log from a Web browser.
