If the operating system has not been installed,follow the instructions in your operating systemdocumentation to install the operating system softwareon your computer.NEC 1765 software for NetWare requires the presence ofa driver that supports the IPX/SPX networkcommunications protocol. One example is the ODIdriver supplied by Novell.Verifying IPX/SPX Protocol in Windows 3.1xFollow these steps to verify that the ODI driver has beeninstalled.1. From Windows, open the MS-DOS icon to move tothe command prompt.2. At the command prompt typemem /cA list of system software modules will appear onthe screen. If the list scrolls by too quickly, typemem /c /pto see the list one screen at a time. If it is installed,the ODI driver appears in the first set of modules inmemory. Look for the IPXODI module.3. At the command prompt typeexitto return to Windows.If the ODI driver, or another IPX/SPX-compatibledriver, has not been installed, refer to the NetWaremanuals for details on setting up NetWare.Verifying IPX/SPX Protocol in Windows 95Follow these steps to verify that the ODI driver has beeninstalled.1. From Windows 95, open the control panels. (Selectthe Start menu, then the Setting submenu, then theControl Panel menu option.)2. Open the Network control panel.3. Select the Configuration tab in the Network controlpanel.4. See if IPX/SPX Compatible Protocol is listed as oneof the installed network components. If IPX/SPXhas already been installed proceed to step 8.5. In the Configuration panel click the Add button.6. In the Select Network Component Type dialog boxselect Protocol and click the Add button.7. In the Select Network Protocol dialog box selectMicrosoft from the Manufacturers list, then selectIPX/SPX compatible Protocol from the NetworkProtocol list. Click the OK button.8. Click OK to leave the Network Configurationpanel.
