From Windows 95 open the control panels. (Selectthe Start menu, then the Settings submenu, then theControl Panel menu option.)2. Open the Printers control panel.3. Open the icon representing the driver you wish touse. If you want to use the PCL 5e driver open theNEC Silentwriter 1700 Series icon. If you want touse the PostScript driver open the NEC 1700 SeriesPostScript L2 icon (A).4. In the driver window select the Properties menuoption from the Printer menu.5. Click on the Details tab in the Propertieswindow (B).6. Open the pull-down menu under Print to thefollowing port. Select the TCP/IP port you definedin step 6 on page 4-20.7. Click the Capture Printer Port button in the driverwindow.8. In the Capture Printer Port dialog box open thepull-down menu next to Device. Select a printerport and click the Reconnect at logon checkbox toturn it on. The port will be between LPT1 and LPT9.9. Click the OK button to close the Capture PrinterPort dialog box and return to the Details tab of theProperties window.10. Click the Apply button in the Details tab of theProperties window to save the changes.11. Click the OK button to close the Properties window.12. To close the driver window, select the Close optionfrom the Printer menu.A B
