H OTS POT GATEWAYSystem Administration 572System AdministrationThis chapter provides all the instructions and procedures necessary for systemadministrators to manage the HSG on the customer’s network (after a successfulinstallation). The system administration procedures in this chapter are organized as they are listedunder their respective Web Management Interface (WMI) menus:z Configuration Menuz Network Info Menuz Port-Location Menuz Subscriber Administration Menuz Subscriber Interface Menuz System MenuChoosing a Remote ConnectionOnce installed and configured for the customer’s network, the HSG can be managedand administered remotely with any of the following interface options:z Using the Web Management Interface (WMI) – providing a powerful andflexible Web interface for network administrators.z Using an SNMP Manager – allowing remote “Windows” management usingan SNMP client manager (for example, HP OpenView). However, beforeyou can use SNMP to access the HSG, you must set up the appropriateSNMP communities. For more information, refer to “Managing the SNMPCommunities {SNMP}” on page 128.z Using a Telnet Client – for “character-based” administration andmanagement, using the Command Line Interface (CLI).Choose an interface connection, based on your preference. Now that the HSG has been installed and configured successfully, thisUser’s Guide moves away from the Command Line Interface (CLI) anddocuments the HSG from the Web Management Interface (WMI).To use any of the remote connections (Web, SNMP, or Telnet), thenetwork interface IP address for the HSG must be established (you didthis during the installation process).
