11-2 Connecting to the NetworkWhen you add the Fiery EX2101 to a network, it is assumed that a networkadministrator has already installed a network cabling system and connectedworkstations and servers.Stages of installation on the networkInstallation can be performed by a network or printing administrator. The stages of asuccessful installation are:• Physically connecting the Fiery EX2101 to a functioning networkPrepare a network node for the Fiery EX2101—obtain cable, route it to the locationwhere the Fiery EX2101 will be installed (near the copier), and attach the cable to thenetwork interface of the Fiery EX2101. For details, see “Ensuring the copierconnection” on page 3-9.N OTE : If you plan to run Command WorkStation software, install the software andconnect the Command WorkStation computer to the network along with theFiery EX2101. For more information, see the User Software Installation Guide.• Configuring the network serverWhen network servers are required, configure those servers to provide client access tothe Fiery EX2101 as a PCL or PostScript printer. For information on configuringnetwork servers in Windows and UNIX network environments, see Chapter 2.• Setting up the Fiery EX2101Configure the Fiery EX2101 for your particular printing and network environment.For details, first read Chapter 2, and then see subsequent chapters.• Preparing client workstations for printingInstall the files needed for printing, install additional user software, and connect theclient to the Fiery EX2101 over the network. These steps are described in the UserSoftware Installation Guide, and some information is also provided in Chapter 2.• Administering the Fiery EX2101Monitor and maintain system performance and troubleshoot problems that arise.For details, see Chapter 7 of this manual and the Job Management Guide.
