Properties11.5.10 Remove (a Host Drive)Click the right mouse button on the host drive icon. By selecting this menu item you candelete a host drive.Warning: When deleting a host drive, all other host drives which are part of the same arraydrive or logical drive, the array drive or logical drive itself and all its componentsare deleted. ALL DATA WILL BE LOST.To prevent the operating system from crashing and to hinder the unintentional deletion ofdrives, all partitions on the host drive (and its related host drives if it is split into severalhost drives) must be deleted before the host drive can be removed.11.5.11 Create New (Host Drive)Double click on the new host drive icon.Only host drives are “visible” to the operating system. The underlying structure of the hostdrives is not known to the operating system. The operating system does not recognize thata given host drive consists of a number of hard disks forming a disk array. To theoperating system this host drive simply appears as one single hard disk with the capacityof the disk array. This complete transparency represents the easiest way to operate diskarrays under any operating system. Neither the operating system nor the computer need tobe involved in the administration of these complex disk array configurations. To create anew host drive, you need one or more physical drives which are not yet part of anotherhost drive. After double clicking on the new host drive icon, the New Host Drive windowopens. See Figure 11-139.
