Chapter 1: Introduction1-4 DLE22-MA, DLE32-MA, DLE23-MA and DLE33-MA User’s Guide1.1.4 ManagementManagement of the DLE2X-MA and DLE3X-MA is accomplished usingLocal Management tools or remote SNMP management stations. LocalManagement is accessible through the RS232 COM port on the frontpanel using a local VT100 terminal, or a remote VT100 terminal via amodem connection, and in-band via a Telnet connection. In-band remotemanagement is possible through any SNMP compliant NetworkManagement Software.1.1.5 Switching OptionsThe DLE2X-MA and DLE3X-MA provide 802.1D switching and 802.1Qswitching between all of the front panel interfaces including Fast EthernetInterface Modules and High Speed Interface Modules (HSIMs).The 802.1Q switching option allows for future migration to VirtualNetwork technologies without requiring the replacement of existingequipment.1.1.6 Standards CompatibilityThe DLE2X-MA and DLE3X-MA are fully compliant with the IEEE802.3 standard. The optional Fast Ethernet Interface Modules are fullycompliant with the IEEE 802.3u standard. The DLE2X-MA andDLE3X-MA provide IEEE 802.1D Spanning Tree Algorithm (STA)support to enhance the overall reliability of the network and protectagainst “loop” conditions. The DLE2X-MA and DLE3X-MA support awide variety of industry standard MIBs including RFC 1213 (MIB II),RFC 1757 (RMON), RFC 1493 (Bridge MIB) and RFC 1354 (FIB MIB).A full suite of the Enterprise MIBs provide a wide array of statisticalinformation to enhance troubleshooting.1.1.7 LANVIEW Diagnostic LEDsLANVIEW diagnostic LEDs serve as an important troubleshooting aid byproviding an easy way to observe the status of individual ports and overallnetwork operations. Chapter 4 provides details about the DLE2X-MA andDLE3X-MA LANVIEW LEDs.
