The chassis uptimeis based on which interface module installed in the chassis has beenoperating for the longest period of time.Operational Mode (Toggle)This field allows the user to set all the modules in the chassis to operate astraditional switches (802.1D SWITCHING option), or as IEEE 802.1Qswitches (802.1Q SWITCHING option).In 802.1D SWITCHING mode, the 24 ports located on the front panel,and each Fast Ethernet Interface Module, and HSIM port(s) are bridged toeach other.When the operational mode is set to 802.1Q SWITCHING, theDLE2X-MA and DLE3X-MA act as IEEE 802.1Q switches. The modulesare able to increase their switching functionality by creating andmaintaining port based Virtual LANs (VLANs).For details on how to select the Operational Mode, refer to Section 5.7.7.5.7.1 Setting the IP AddressTo set the IP address, perform the following steps:1. Use the arrow keys to highlight the IP Address field.2. Enter the IP address into this field using Decimal Dotted Notation(DDN) format.For example: 134.141.79.1203. Press ENTER. If the IP address is a valid format, the cursor returns tothe beginning of the IP address field. If the entry is not valid, the EventMessage Line displays “INVALID IP ADDRESS OR FORMATENTERED”. Local Management does not alter the current value andrefreshes the IP address field with the previous value.4. Use the arrow keys to highlight the SAVE command, then pressENTER. The “SAVED OK” message displays indicating that thechanges have been saved to memory.
