Chapter 2: Network Requirements2-2 DLE22-MA, DLE32-MA, DLE23-MA and DLE33-MA User’s Guide2.2 10BASE-T NETWORKWhen connecting a 10BASE-T segment to any of the DLE2X-MA andDLE3X-MA ports (Interfaces 1 through 24), ensure that the networkmeets the Ethernet network requirements of the IEEE 802.3 standard for10BASE-T. Refer to the Cabletron Systems Cabling Guide for details.2.3 100BASE-TX NETWORKThe DLE2X-MA, with an DELTX-UI installed in ports 25 and 26,provides an RJ45 connection that supports UTP cabling. The device at theother end of the twisted pair segment must meet IEEE 802.3u100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet network requirements for the devices tooperate at 100 Mbps. Refer to the Cabletron Systems Cabling Guide fordetails.2.4 100BASE-FX FIBER OPTIC NETWORKPorts 25 and 26 of the DLE2X-MA support the DELFX-UI andDELF3-UI fiber optic interface modules. The device at the other end ofthe fiber optic segment must meet the 100BASE-FX Fast Ethernetnetwork requirements to operate at 100 Mbps. Refer to the CabletronSystems Cabling Guide for details.Multimode Mode Fiber Optic Cable LengthThe maximum multimode fiber optic cable length of a 100BASE-FXsegment is covered in the Cabletron Systems Cabling Guide.Single Mode Fiber Cable LengthsThe maximum single mode fiber optic length of a 100BASE-FX segmentmay be no more than 5 km between Data Terminal Equipment (DTE toDTE) in half duplex mode or 20 km (DTE to DTE) in full duplex mode. The DLE2X-MA with an DELTX-UI installed is capable ofoperating at either 10 or 100 Mbps. The DELTX-UI canautomatically sense the speed of the other device and adjustsits speed accordingly.
