If you arestuck, do not spin the tires. Whenstopping on a hill, use the brakesto hold the vehicle in place.While in Sport or Track Mode, thevehicle monitors driving behavior,and automatically enablesPerformance Shift Features whenspirited driving is detected. Thesefeatures maintain lowertransmission gears to increaseavailable engine braking andimprove acceleration response. Thevehicle will exit these features andreturn to normal operation after ashort period when no spirited drivingis detected. See Driver ModeControl 0 208.Manual ModeTap ShiftCautionDriving with the engine at a highrpm without upshifting while usingTap Shift, could damage thevehicle. Always upshift whennecessary while using Tap Shift.Vehicles with Tap Shift havecontrols on the back of the steeringwheel to manually shift theautomatic transmission.To enter Permanent Tap Shift Mode:1. With the shift lever in D (Drive),press the M (Manual Mode)button on the top of the shiftlever. While in Tap Shift Mode,the M of the PRNDM section ofthe instrument cluster willbecome highlighted, and thecurrent gear is indicated.2. Tap the left control todownshift, and the right controlto upshift.3. To exit, press the M (ManualMode) button a second time.With the shift lever in D (Drive) andnot in Permanent Tap Shift Mode,the tap shift controls will activate atemporary tap manual shift mode,allowing the transmission to bemanually shifted. Automatic shiftsreturn after no manual shifts havebeen done for seven to 10 seconds.The Temporary Tap Shift Mode canalso be deactivated by holding theright upshift control briefly.While using Tap Shift, the vehiclewill have firmer, quicker shifting.
