For example, some lawsmay require a person using remotestart to have the vehicle in view.Check local regulations for anyrequirements.If your vehicle is low on fuel, do notuse the remote start feature. Thevehicle may run out of fuel.The RKE transmitter range may beshorter while the vehicle is running.Other conditions can affect theperformance of the transmitter. SeeRemote Keyless Entry (RKE)System 0 29.Starting the Engine Using RemoteStart1. Press and release Q on theRKE transmitter.2. Immediately press and hold /for at least four seconds or untilthe turn signal lamps flash.This confirms the request toremote start the vehicle hasbeen received.During the remote start, thedoors will be locked and theparking lamps will remain on aslong as the engine is running.The engine will shut off after10 minutes unless a timeextension is done or theignition is put in ON/RUN.3. Press the brake pedal andselect the ON/RUN ignitionmode to drive the vehicle.Extending Engine Run TimeThe engine run time can also beextended by another 10 minutes,if during the first 10 minutesSteps 1–2 are repeated while theengine is still running. An extensioncan be requested, 30 seconds afterstarting. This provides a total of20 minutes.The remote start can only beextended once.When the remote start is extended,the second 10 minute period isadded on to the first 10 minutes fora total of 20 minutes.A maximum of two remote starts,or a remote start with an extension,are allowed between ignition cycles.Then the ignition must be changedto ON/RUN and then back to OFFbefore the remote start procedurecan be used again.Canceling a Remote StartTo cancel a remote start, do any ofthe following:.
